Message de la famille
It is with deepest regret we announce the passing of our dearly beloved father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend and wonderful husband of 60 years.
Please join us for the celebration of his life in Poitiers on 5th July at 1.30pm.
Instead of flowers we invite you to please make a donation, to French Cancer Research at LA LIGUE. Donations to this organisation have helped buy the latest technology for research and treatment at CHU Poitiers, where John received much of his cancer care.

Obituary
John Godwin, of Trevethin, South Wales, was the son of Jack & Eileen Godwin, brother to Philip & Robert Godwin. He was a loving husband to his dear wife of 60 years, Marianne Godwin, and father to Sarah & Joanna. Grandfather to Mathew & Daniel. A dear and respected uncle to all his nephews & nieces.
Rising from humble beginnings in the valleys of South Wales, John had an exceptional mind and an ingrained determination to do well in life, graduating with a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Manchester University. Soon, his intellect and adventurous spirit saw him travelling the world, carving a life for himself and his family, living in countries such as Brazil, Germany, Belgium and Singapore. He worked across South America, the Middle East and Asia, and was held in high esteem wherever he went. John always had wonderful anecdotes about the places he had been. There are so many great stories of his exploits and achievements. A keen historian, lover of motorbikes, with a wry sense of humour. Deeply valued and loved by his family & friends. A good man, a resilient man, a Welshman.
